Tolly recently spoke with Mitch Crane, VP of Product Marketing and Bryan Pham, CTO at Cloudtenna regarding DirectShare, which works with your Windows File Server to add important new cloud features to traditional storage. For more information, visit https://www.cloudtenna.com or follow them on Twitter at Cloudtenna.
Here are a few key elements that we gleaned from speaking with Mitch and Bryan:
What is DirectShare?:
Unlike enterprise file sync and share products, DirectShare is not a storage company. They are storage agnostic. Their incentive is to empower the customer’s own storage rather than try to get the customer to migrate to the cloud over time.
DirectShare works with your existing file shares so you can browse, open, and edit your files from anywhere. It’s like having your own cloud storage, except your files remain secure on your private storage
As a member of Microsoft’s Cloud Storage Partner Program, DirectShare worked with Microsoft to develop a unique integration between private on-premises network shares and the Microsoft Office Online applications. Users can co-author documents in real-time and easily add, respond to, and track comments and status updates on one version of the document.

New Features Available Soon:
The new feature proactively know which files are important to you. For example, if your boss touches a file, we know that file is likely relevant to you as well. With this knowledge, DirectSearch creates a unique search algorithms tailored for each individual user.
DirectAudit recognizes user behavior trends to alert users about security and compliance risks.
